Yalla is a Middle Eastern street food restaurant in downtown Victoria, BC that serves up fresh, house-made falafel, shawarma, and snacks in a casual and unpretentious environment.
Envisioned by Joel Pollock and his wife Pam Smith, the couple wanted a visual identity that conjured up the sense of community, sharing and playfulness that they experienced in their travels to Israel and the West Bank (the birthplace of Yalla). A quirky tableau of characters was created as the foundation for the brand, which was complemented by an airy yet punchy palette and bold, accessible type. A concise, one-page website was designed primarily as a funnel for online orders but also as a way for customers to engage with the playful brand.
